Kickstarter Experience
As described on the eBarrow Story page, I recently bought a house with a nice 2-acre backyard. Unfortunately, the property had been neglected for 20 years, resulting in an overgrown mess of mature trees, many of which were diseased and needed removal.
Clearing out the trees was an exhausting task, especially hauling the logs across my property and up the hill to stack them against the house. That's when I devised an early version of the eBarrow Kit, which significantly sped up my yard work. And that is when my wife said:
"You need to commercialize this invention!"
However, launching a new business from scratch requires substantial capital to refine the prototype into a durable, functional, and elegant product. Discovering Kickstarter provided a solution – a platform where supporters of innovative products can pre-order them, aiding entrepreneurs in raising funds to finalize product development and launch the company.
Delving into Kickstarter was an eye-opening experience. I realized there's a vast community of individuals like myself seeking support for their projects, necessitating competition for potential backers' attention. Setting up advertising campaigns on platforms like Facebook and Instagram proved costly, with mixed results.
Nevertheless, the journey was ultimately successful. Producing a humorous promotional video got me significant interest in my product, I got a list of 27,000 emails for future advertising, and my Kickstarter campaign surpassed my initial funding goal by more than double. With this financial boost, I was able to stay focused on developing an improved version of the original prototype. I hope you enjoy using it as much as I enjoyed developing it!
